Is the cave open year round?

Wyandotte Caves has two caves. Siberts Cave is open March 1st through October 31st. Wyandotte Cave is open May 1st through Labor Day Weekend. The reason the caves are not open all year long is due to the Wyandotte Cave being home to over 30,000 bats that hibernate during the time the cave is closed to the public.


What are your hours?

Wyandotte Caves are closed from November 1st through February 28th (and 29th).

March 1st through April 30th:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

May 1st through Labor Day weekend:
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

First day after Labor Day Weekend through October 31st:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.


How often are tours?

Both of our walking tours are scheduled as needed throughout the day. In season, the wait is often 30 minutes or even less. Our natural adventure trips must be scheduled two weeks in advance.


Is there an age limit?

The walking tours have no age limits. However, we don't recommend letting children 5 or under go on the Monument Mountain Tour.

People with physical health problems are advised to enjoy the Flowstone Falls Tour only.


Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Reservations are not required for show caves. However, if you are bringing a group of 12 or more, you will need to contact us and make a reservation in order to receive our group rates. Reservations are a requirement to go on any of our natural adventure trips (2 weeks advance notice).

How can I get group rates?

Group rates are available for groups of 12 or more. To obtain group rates you can visit our group rates page. A reservation and deposit are necessary in order to be eligible for group rates. It is recommended that group reservations be made as far in advance as possible, but we request that they be made at least two weeks in advance.

What's the difference between the tours?

Siberts Cave and Wyandotte Cave are entirely different. Siberts Cave has some water while Wyandotte Cave is relatively dry. Historic Wyandotte Cave features large rooms and passageways. Also the tours vary in length and difficulty.

How far are you from Louisville, Evansville, or Indianapolis?

Louisville: Approximately 40 minutes
Evansville: Approximately 1.5 hours
Indianapolis: Approximately 2.5 hours


Can we bring pets?

Pets are not allowed inside either of the two caves.


Can I take a stroller or a wheelchair into the cave?

Children under 5 are not recommend to go on the Monument Mountain tour. Strollers and wheelchairs are not allowed in either cave because of the large amount of steps and maneuverability issues.


Do you have camping available?

Wyandotte Caves does not have a campground on site. However, O'Bannon Woods State Park is a very popular Class A campground operated by the State of Indiana within 5 miles. Also there are additional campgrounds within a 25 miles radius.


Are the tours difficult?

The Monument Mountain tour is not recommended for children under 5 or adults with health problems.


What else is there to do while I'm in the area?

Marengo Cave National Landmark is 30 minutes away. Your family can enjoy two great tours and gemstone mining at this beautiful park.
